New partnership offers parents choice for their K child

Charlevoix Public Schools is partnering with Charlevoix Children’s House Montessori to offer parents still another choice in educating their child.

In June, the Charlevoix Board of Education entered into the one-year contract to operate the Montessori school, which is located on Mercer Boulevard. The district will rent a portion of the Children’s House for $16,000 annually and hire school teacher Molly Arnold.

Superintendent Chet Janik noted that parents will benefit in having another option for their kindergarten student, and children will benefit from the Montessori-style education. In addition, the district and Children’s House both benefit by having a partnership which strengthens both entities.

“We are very happy to offer this choice for parents and their children. It is a great opportunity to share resources and strengthen both Charlevoix Public Schools and the Charlevoix Children’s House,” Janik said.

Charlevoix Children’s House anticipates about 12 kindergarten students enrolling this fall.
