Interactive Classroom Technologies Coming Soon

On Tuesday, May 26 the Board of Education approved the purchase of 59 SMART interactive whiteboards, ceiling mounted projectors, document cameras and audio amplification systems for classrooms throughout the district. The Board also approved award of a contract to Buday's Northern Certified Electronics, Inc. of Charlevoix for the installation of these technologies. The installation will begin in June with completion scheduled for August.

Interactive whiteboards were highlighted in our previous article "What is a Smart Classroom?". The district first began using interactive whiteboards in the fall of 2007 in four middle school classrooms. The success of that initiative led the district to pursue bond funding for a district-wide implementation of these powerful tools for teaching and learning. After a year of evaluating interactive whiteboards, the industry leading SMART Boards have been selected for their ease of use, unique features and solid track record in schools around the world.

The combination of our exemplary teaching staff and these cutting edge educational technologies will further define Charlevoix Public Schools as one of the leading school systems in the State of Michigan.
